rewnd.tv
The YouTube videos Reddit couldn't stop sharing, month by month since 2007.
Why
YouTube's homepage is built to show you what's new and what will keep you watching. It can't show you what the internet was watching in the summer of 2012: the music videos everyone was posting, the clips that hit the front page, the trailers people argued about for weeks.
Reddit can. For almost twenty years, people have shared videos there and voted on them, and those votes are a record of what each community loved at the time. rewnd.tv turns that record into a TV you can rewind: pick a subreddit, pick a month, and watch what everyone was watching.
What you can do
- Travel in time. Drag the timeline at the bottom of the page, scroll on it, or use the arrow keys. The list re-ranks for the month you land on.
- Browse a subreddit like a channel. Every subreddit in the sidebar is a channel. Sort by Most upvoted, or by Most shared to see what spread across the most communities.
- Search video titles, YouTube channels and subreddits. Type r/ and a name, like r/kpop, to jump into that community's videos.
- Start TV. Plays the videos on screen one after another, full screen, with a burst of static in between. Use ← and → to skip; videos that won't play outside YouTube are skipped for you.
- See where it came from. Every video page lists the Reddit posts that shared it, each linked to its original thread.
- Share any video. Its link shows a preview card with the title and thumbnail on Reddit, X, Threads, iMessage and most other apps.
Privacy
There are no accounts and no cookies, and nothing is saved in your browser. rewnd.tv only does basic, anonymous tracking to see how the site is used.
Videos play through YouTube's privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com); once you play one, YouTube's privacy policy applies. Thumbnails load from YouTube's image servers and one font from Google Fonts, so those services see your visit the way they would for any embedded image.
